Walkabout Didjeridoos and Dreamtime Rattles

Rick Ellis

Rick has been studying shamanism and sound healing over the past 20 years. Exploring the sound of the didjeridoo and its connection to the dream time. And using a variety of rattles in shamanic ceremony.
During that time he has traveled to visit sacred sites and to train with indigenous elders.
He initially traveled with a full size didjeridoo, however after 'Nine Eleven' this became more challenging. As a result he studied the craft of didjeridoo making and experimented extensively with designs to build a briefcase and backpack size didjeridoo. The first attempts resulted in light and portable didjeridoos, but the sound was "thin", buzzy, and of little value as a true instrument.
After further design and experimentation with woods of different densities the Walabout Didjeridoo was developed. A small, portable didjeridoo that sounds like the "real thing".
Rick has played his Walkabout didj in the Great Pyramid, The temples of Bali, on the banks of the Rio Negro in the Amazon, the Outback of Australia, and the stone circles of Scotland.
Experienced players agree the Walkabout Didj sounds great.

The Dreamtime rattles were born from a vision of a new type of rattle that utilized sacred geometry and could be used by shamans, sound healers and musicians. The platonic solids provided the foundation of sacred geometry and the use of woods of different densities and thicknesses allowed the creation of a series of rattles that have remarkable sound and energetic qualities.

All Rattles and Didjes are handmade by Rick
